Metal Gear Solid 4 : Guns of The Patriots Walkthrough PS3

Chapter 0: Prolouge
The game starts out with an interview with David Hayter who does the voice of
Snake and an infomercial. Followed by a cutscene of Old Snake riding in a truck
full of militia.

~Middle East Ground Zero~
The first task is to crawl under the truck to the left. After another cutscene,
move towards one of the fallen soldiers and pick up a weapon. There will be a
brief description of it. Press X to continue and move foward. The fighting
continues until some Irvings arrive on the scene. Let the Metal Gear run past
you then head north. As Snake takes a breather, some blood will drip onto him.
Press L1 to look up and see an Irving attack him. Snake manages to get away
from the Irvings eventually by camoflauging. There is even a box that says,
No Place for Hideo written on it. After the Irvings leave, Snake hops down and
picks up a gun and that ends the Prologue. Save your game.

Three days earlier...
Snake is at a graveyard, press X to see a flashback of his old self. Otacon
shows up and says Snake may have Werner's syndrome as the cause of his rapid
aging but tests prove negative. Snake knows he has a year at best to live at
the rate of his aging. Press X to see a flash of Naomi.

Chapter 1: Liquid Sun

~Middle East Red Zone: NW Sector~
Contact Otacon on the Codec and he tells you to meet him at a rendezvous point.
Try to get there without being sighted or attacking anyone since neither side
is the enemy until they see you. Start off by using the Triangle button on the
dead bodies to take their items and weapons. One has a ration and the other one
has ammo. Once you move to where you see two brown clad soldiers, there is a
ration located inside of the building by where the stairs used to be. Enter the
crawlspace. There is an arsenal compress inside. Once out of the other side, a
tank arrives. Wait for the soldiers to move ahead and go inside an opening to
the right. Wait for the soldiers to die first and get their stuff before you
crawl underneath the wreckage. Another soldier is shot dead as he begs for his
life. Wait for the other guy to leave then stay towards the left side while you
stay hidden. There is a crawlspace over by the ration. Now the next few steps
are crucial. Wait for the enemy to pass by before heading towards the next area
called the Red Zone. When you are almost there, move quietly towards it when it
is safe by crawling.

~Middle East Red Zone~
When you enter, avoid the soldiers by going to the right. There is a staircase
but don't go up just yet. Underneath it is a Cardboard Box and a Compressor. Go
up the stairs. To get past the guard, unarm yourself and turn into a box and
make a small scene so the guard can investigate. When he lifts the box, press
R1 to throw him to the ground and knock him out. Stay along the top and drop
down at the end. In case, you didn't figure it out by yourself, you can roll
over small gaps by pressing the Crawl button as you run. Once you have dropped
down. Wait for the coast to be clear and head to the rendezvous point to meet
the Metal Gear MkII. As you get closer, PMCs will approach. Hide inside the
trashcan until they pass by and don't move. Once you are clear, you are then
homefree. You can also get there without confrontation if you move fast enough.
Once you got your weapons, head for the Militia safehouse. Get there silently
by using your Mk2 Pistol to knock out the PMCs. Move through the building on
the right and when you exit, you'll be in Militia territory. Go to the far end
to get a RPG-7 before enter the hole that is the Militia Safehouse.

~Middle East Militia Safehouse~
You are told to use Night Vision but you can see just fine without it. If you
get spotted, stay still until they allow you to pass to avoid any unnecessary
fighting. You'll eventually meet up with Drebin. Don't forget to pick up all
the weapons and items including a Theme of Tara in an alcove.

~Middle East Urban Ruins~
You might have a hard time with this level, there are no enemies to encounter
at least so there is no need to be cautions. Tune in next time for the strategy
to get out of this area if you haven't done so yourself. Oh and BTW, you'll get
an oil drum in the next area.

Update: Actually, you can use your Snake Eye's night vision mode to follow the
footprints to the next area. There is one spot where you will have to crawl
against a wall or dangle from the ledge and pull yourself up at the end.

~Middle East Downtown~

Move forward and make a right the first chance you get. Make another right and
follow the Milita down the right side and hang a left as soon as you can. It's
better to squeeze through the small gap by pressing the /\ button and head to
the area that leads behind two PMCs. Just sneak past them and stay in creeping
mode as you stay along the right side and duck into the alley. Wait for the PMC
group to pass into another area and just head to the end of the road. Put one
PMC to sleep quickly and hide from two others. Make your way to a crawlspace
across the street and go inside. Once out, wait for the PMC airstrike to stop
then head for the door marked on the radar.

~Middle East / Advent Palace~

Don't worry about any enemies to fight. The place is however, filled with lots
of sleeping gas bombs and claymore. It's a good idea to crawl up the stairs to
add them to your arsenal should you pass by them. Some paths are blocked but
the object is to reach the rooftop. To get there, go up to the third floor, but
you can get an item from the fourth floor though it's blocked once up there.
Get the item, and go back down to the third floor. You want to get to the area
that is northeast on the map and go up those stairs. Once at the roof, watch
out for the sleeping gas bomb in the entrace and move forward to the next are

--Cutscene--
Snake reunites with Meryl Silverburgh. She has her own team now. She's a little
distraught over seeing how old Snake has gotten. After all, she and Snake were
an item in the first game. She had cut off all ties to the past after Snake had
left her. The reunion is cut short when a group called the FROGS show up and
start attacking the Rat Patrol.
--End Cutsecne--

Expecting a perfect stealth run? Well the good news is that this exchange with
the Rat Patrol and the FROGS will not endanger your stealth record. The Mk2 is
a good weapon for those who want to avoid any killing. Now for the bad news.
If Meryl or any of her comrades die then game over. You have to help them get
to the bottom floor safely. It's going to be a real gunfight so be sure you
protect yourself as well as your comrades until you reach the second floor as
Johnny gets laid out. Use the /\ button to wake him up using the same method
you used to take weapons and items from dead bodies. Enter the hole in the wall
and wait for Johnny to take care of the infared beams. There is a shitload of
ammo and items to get. Head to the bottom floor. Take out the last of the FROGS
and enter the basement. Get all the goods and go up the hill to exit into..

~Middle East / Crescent Meridian~

Go forward and make to quick rights. Make your a way to a gap in the building
and go left. Lay down so your Octocamo is the same as the ground then while the
PMCs and militia are battling, stay along the right side where the militia are
battling from. You can walk past the front of the dumpster without alerting the
PMCs. Just make your way to a burned car. There is a ladder you need to reach.
Have your MK2 ready to take out two PMCs if necessary. You want to crawl your
way to the ladder. If you lack the guts, find a safe spot and take out the two
PMCs and climb the ladder. Crawl your way across the top area and drop down to
go to..

~Middle East / Millenium Park~

You are almost down with Act 1. Keep an eye out on the PMCs' routes as you move
forward till you can't no more. When you get to a part when a PMC will stop
moving. Stay still until he moves away. Get into a small gap in the buildings
and crawl through. There is a broken wall. Carefully crawl your way up the
stairs and wait for the PMC to look out the window and knock him out with a Mk2
round. Get into the door and enter the hole in the floor carefully. Cautiously
exit out the building and as you make your way to the radar point, there are a
few avenues you have when heading for the point without being seen. The best
suggestion is to take out the PMCs from a safe spot. If you are good at head
shots then you can easily take them out when there is more than one in the area
as one will check on the other and leaves himself prone to getting hit. Once
you reached the left door.

Chapter 2: Solid Sun

~South America: Cove Valley Village~

Shoot the 4 PMCs with the Mk 2. Pistol and get ready to shoot a PMC coming out
of the house to attack the hostages. For better results, buy a MOSIN and use
that instead. Headshots come easier and put the enemy to sleep immediately.
When the hostages stage a revolt, travel alongside them and pick off any PMCs
that they come across if they themselves haven't killed the PMCs. They will
thank you for helping them and compliment you too. Colonel will interrupt you
with a Codec call along with his new wife, Rosemary. Colonel sure is a womani-
zing peice of shit. LOL! Continue the support till you reach..

~South America: Power Station~

Snake gets a mystery call about snipers in this area. There are two of them on
the right side. It's best to move along the left side and shoot the PMCs firing
from ahead of you with the MOSIN or long range rifle if you feel like killing.
As you make your way forward, crawl carefully and watch your radar so when you
see it is blue it is safer to crawl. When it is not blue, then take out any of
the PMCs you see without getting spotted. At the sandbags, ignore the PMCs on
the opposite side and make your way to the very left to meet up with Drebin.
You can also attempt to shut down the power station for the rebels. When you
get closer, switch to your Mk II. to make quiet shots. Disable a PMC and crawl
alongside the brick wall slowly not to alert the PMCs. Crawl your way to small
space on the left side that takes you to the opposite side of the building. Put
the PMC outside to sleep and let the rebel forces disable the Power Station for
you. Then you are free to go to the next area. After you meet with Drebin, the
next area is totally safe to explore since the Power Station is shut down.

~South America: Confinement Facility~

This starts as low patrol area. The tank passes by. Stay on the high road and
disable a PMC then mave your way towards a house. Saving the hostages is only
optional. Disable nearby PMCs then head to..

~South America: Vista Mansion~

Stay low as you move forward. The rebels will start an assault. Now you can go
a little bit faster and wait for a cutscene of the rebels bringing in a dozer
to knock down the gate. Make your way into the mansion safely and stand between
the two plants very still until the PMCs go downstairs and leave then go up the
stairs. Go inside the two doors. Make sure the coast is clear on the roof then
drop down where there is a skylight. Keep moving inside the tunnel to reach...

~South America: Research Lab~

You start off in Caution Mode after the scene with Naomi (who is also sad to
see what Snake has become. She had told Snake the reason for his rapid aging
which is him being a clone.) Hide under the bed and shoot all PMC ladies with
your Mk2 pistol to ward off the caution. Shake em down for items and weapons
then move through the outside to trigger a boss fight with Laughing Octopus.

Boss Fight: Laughing Octopus

She is a real tricky bitch who likes to play hide and seek. Too bad that hide
and seek is no match for your night vision. We used the RPG-7 from a distance
for best results. Her main attack is a P90 machine gun attack which can you can
avoid by taking cover. When she curls into a ball early into the fight, then
she will disappear in a puff of smoke and send three missiles at you. You can
destroy these easily with your shots. When low on energy, she will start to
mimic other items. First is the Otacon MG2 model, then she mimics a dead body,
then she mimics Naomi. You aren't too stupid for that shit. If she rolls into a
ball later in the fight or you lose sight of her, get onto high ground because
this move really fucks you up or outright kill you if it connects. Once she is
out of her armor, use your MK2 pistol on her waist to finish her off. As long
as she is in her armor, deadly force won't harm your no-kill strategy.

~South America: Research Lab~

Use the Night vision to follow the footprints to the bridge. Disable the lone
PMC in the area and take the path to the right. There is a sniper ahead waiting
for someone to pass by. The Mosin will take care of him. Crawl underneath where
he was and before you pass a rock, stop because there is a nearby PMC. Crawl
very carefully then shoot him with a MkII pistol. Cross the river and go down
the left path then at the split turn around and take the right path. The solid
eye will give you away. Let it to do so to attract the PMC then disable her as
she approaches. Do it to the other one too. Be sur you are prone when doing
this. Knock out the PMC planting Claymore. There is a dead end that has a black
plate with hands all over. Lay on it for the hand camo.Go back and go through
the path on the far side. Disable a sniper at the end of the trail. Move to the
tree and go left. Make another left and curve into the tunnel.

~South America: Marketplace~

You fight on top of Drebin's tank. You roll through different places before you
reach the marketplace itself. Use non-lethal CQC tactics on the soldiers until
Drebin moves out. Arm the machine gun on the tank and shoot at only the Geckos.
In the next area, concentrate only on shooting the green gates until they are
blown off then it's just a tst of survival from hear on out until you are in
the actual marketplace.

Raiden appears and takes care of a few Geckos. Geckos are running amok. You got
to make a run for it. Take cover and lay down in the shade to regain health. Go
into the alley first and send the Metal Gear MkII around the corner to get the
M72A3. Then double back and knock down the Gecko first then hit it again to put
it in agony. Try to avoid another Gecko as you run down the straight path to
safety. However, there is a Gecko at the end. To get past it, do a diving roll
that carries you over its sweeping foot and too the right. This concludes the
second chapter. Watch the incredible cutscene of Vamp vs Raiden.

Chapter 3: Third Sun

~Eastern Europe: Midtown~

You are in civilian clothing. Your mission is to gain access to the resistance
base undetected. The first thing you must do is find a resistance member and
follow him from a safe distance so neither he nor the PMCs can see you. If he
spots you, he will either run away or shoot at you. If you lose his trail, you
can use your Snake Eye and make note of his footprints to recover his trail. In
this first area, he will make 6 different stops before heading to the next area
which depends on which difficulty mode is set. On Big Boss Hard, he will go to
the west and on anything below that, he'll go north. Be sure to pick off any
PMCs who might obstruct the resistance members progress.

On Big Boss Hard mode, you'll go through 2 extra areas areas as you follow the
resistance member but you'll basically know what to in these parts until you
reach the rendezvous points. Just remember in the last section, the resistance
member will be disguised as a PMC member.

~Eastern Europe: Church Courtyard~

You'll meet up with EVA (aka Big Mama), your surrogate mother. You'll be riding
through a series of areas on the back of her motorcycle. You will have infinite
ammo for the ride as you shoot down enemies in your path. In the third area,
Raging Raven will appear and send out her sliders at you. You can kill these
guys for Drebin Points. You may not be able to defeat her during the motorcycle
scene but for MGS3 fans who remember this part (about killing THE END early or
at least taking off some of his life before the fight), a similar situation
works here as any damage done to Raging Raven will linger on to the actual boss
fight.

~Eastern Europe: Echo's Bacon~
-----

Boss Fight: Raging Raven

Once you are fighting Raging Raven, make your way to the top of the building to
make this fight easier. Kill the sliders and piss her off. Once she is pissed
off then she is easier to deal with since she won't use many attacks. When she
says she is overheating, she will fly to the top of a nearby building to calm
herself down. Use whatever lethal weapons you want on her beast form. When she
down to human form, you can choose to kill her or use non-lethal means. The
latter will net you the face camo for Raging Raven Doll.

-----

Chapter 4: Twin Sun - Shadow Moses

I'll finish this next time so I'll skip to the end fight.

-----

Chapter 5: Old Sun

~Outer Haven: Ship Exterior~
-----

Boss Fight: Liquid Ocelot

The Ocelot fight consists of for rounds. The first round is basically a rope-a-
dope strategy. Block or dodge Ocelot's attacks and retaliate with your attacks.
Don't rely much on CQC moves. If Ocelot taunts, press Triangle to regain some
health.

Round 2 is pretty much the same as Round 1 except Ocelot's dash punch is more
deadly and does a lot of damage even if blocked (though not as much on blocks).
Same strategy applies.

If ya'll haven't noticed, Round 1 and 2 are similar to the fist fight between
Solid and Liquid Snake in Metal Gear Solid 1.

Round 3 has Ocelot trying to get in close for a headbutt or a headlock. For the
headlock, use the onscreen prompt to escape. For fun, let him keep you in the
headlock and he'll kiss you on the cheek. You basically keep punching at him as
he approaches.

Round 4 is all downhill for you. Just keep punching your way to victory.
